Lovely Lombok

Candice’s parents, Ian and Annette, came to Jakarta to visit us over the Easter break. It was great to be able to spend Easter with them and travel with them to Lombok. This was then followed by some chilled hangouts in Jakarta and eating some amazing ribs at Bluegrass in Kuningan.
The beautiful beach at Kuta, Lombok. We had it all to ourselves!
Lombok is Bali’s lesser known sibling. We’d heard that the beaches were stunning and it certainly didn’t let us down! Kuta beach in South Lombok was ten times as stunning as its namesake in Bali.Without a soul in sight we were able to have the beach to ourselves and chill out swimming and sipping on coconuts that we purchased of a little old man.

Recommended place to stay: Segara Anak Hotel. It set us back about $17 a night and was excellent! It also had  a pool, and even though it was small it was nice to hang out by the pool.

The lonely planet recommended we try chili crab at a restaurant down the road. We were the only guests in the entire restaurant and the chili crab was incredible!

Everything in Lombok can be arranged at the drop of a hat. From motorcycle hire to surf lessons to a day trip to Gili Trawangan Island – a couple of phone calls and people were ready to take us!

The crab alive!

The crab now ready to eat! Seriously amazing!!!

We hired bikes to explore the untouched beaches in South Lombok.

The beach at Gili Islands - the new Bali for foreigners.
